The Goat Format is a Yu-Gi-Oh! format that uses the ban list and card pool from April through August of 2005. The format is widely considered to be one of the most skill-intensive formats in the history of the game. The premier deck of the format, and its namesake, is Goat Control. Goat Control was a deck that sought to gain control of the game using a combination of the cards Thousand-Eyes Restrict and Tsukuyomi. Together, these two created an infinite removal engine which made it difficult for an opponent to recover from. Usually, Thousand-Eyes was summoned through the use of the card Metamorphosis, which would often be fueled by a Scapegoat token. This interaction is where the deck, and subsequently the format, got its name.
A lot can be said about the format, its history, and where it stands today. However, many have done so already, and better than I ever could. So, to learn more about the format please visit our Helpful Links Page, or continue browsing the site! The Ban List, FAQ, and Card Pool pages should prove very useful. You can also watch this introduction video created by YugiNoNo, in which he explains the format in detail. Though the video is somewhat dated (his lists include Exarion Universe, which is no longer considered legal) it is still a great resource!
